Description:
GTBikeV is a mod for GTA V that turns a Smart Bike Trainer, or cycling power meter, into the game controller, making your game time actual training time.
You'll have a cycling workout immersed in the GTA V world environment.
You can use some indoor running devices too and have a jog around Los Santos.
The mod features a library that listens to the ANT+ wireless protocol or BlueTooth signal from an ANT+ FE-C compatible trainer (Tacx, Wahoo, Elite, Bkool, Kinetic, Saris, etc...) or a Power meter, or a Smart treadmill or foot pod, reads the speed and applies it to the vehicle your character is riding during the game. It reads the incline of the terrain, the roughness (material) and the wind in the game and sends all that information to the smart trainer so it can reproduce the hardness of the terrain you are actually riding.
The mod records your training into a FIT file, accompanied with periodic screenshots, that you can later upload to Strava or your favorite training app to track your progress. The FIT file is complete with fake GPS location to make your virtual training more realistic. A new fit file is created when you start moving after activating the mod and every time you change to a new course. The files are stored in the user data directory for GTA V, usually located at "My Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V"
The mod by default spans a road bicycle and dresses your character with biking clothes.
As using your keyboard while riding the real bike is difficult, the mod features a course reader which auto drives you around Los Santos following
different routes of various difficulty levels. If auto drive is selected but no course is loaded, the character will roam freely around the map (be warned, that could lead you to some serious uphills). Auto driving uses the best driving skill level available in the game so you are not likely to hit anything, but you still can be ran over when driving in the freeways with heavy traffic. The mod will try to recover from that without needing you to use the keyboard.
If auto drive is not enabled, the vehicle can be controlled with the usual steering keys or with a game pad controller.
Some settings can be controlled from an ini file, including the bike model spawn on start, the scale of the slopes (the game present unrealistic slopes way harder than the real life equivalents), and the real world GPS coordinates of 0,0 in Los Santos map that are used to map the location for the FIT file.
Warning: this mod requires actual PHYSICAL EXCERSISE to be meaningful.
Remember mods only work in Story Mode, not in GTA V online

Hi,
thank you so much for this mod ! this looks great ! i've installed the latest version of GTA V and of the mod. I have a neo 2 trainer, and I am using Bluetooth BLE only (i deactivated ANT+ from the trainer - and i have no usb-ant+ dongle). I've accomplish the prologue of the game (i have a progression of 1.3%). When i activated the mod, the first time, i moved on the bike and was able to move forward and saw some watt on the virtual bike computer !!! unfortunatelly, i didn't have autodrive & avoid obstacle in my settings and i fall. Now, even after powering on/off the trainer, restarting the game, i can't make it work again. Activating / unactivating the mode is not changing, and no bike spawn. I have 2 questions there: i read the doc and saw that BLE works, and in other place that i need ANT+. But my trial make me think that bluetooth is now working ? second, if we still need ANT+, what usb/ant+ sensor will you recommand ?
I can share the logs (they are empty) and the results of F11 (but i don't know how to add an image here) Key points on the F11 are BLE True=31 and Power= -1
Does anyone know if this works with an Echelon EX3 and the qdomyos-zwift app? This is a 'bridge' app that allows Zwift to control resistance on the Echelon EX3/4/5 models. I'm not sure if this 3rd party app can pass this information to the mod. I'm in the research step of deciding on a 'smart bike', and having this option along with Zwift would make the EX3 my top pick.
@g-coded the qdomyos app looks like a simple bluetooth bridge. If it bridges to Cycling Power, Cycling Speed and cadence and Heartrate Bluetooth services, then it will work with GTBikeV, althought it won't be able to control the resistance, but if it only bridges to FTMS it won't work at all, as FTMS is not supported yet. My personal opinion is that setup is very complicated when you can find similar indoor bikes with direct ANT or BLE capabilities that don't require a bridge.
I can't understand either why they made that bike without a standard communication profile/protocol.
@Makinolo - I was looking at the 'Supported Indoor Bikes' on Zwift's website as a compatibility check. It looks like anything that controls the resistance starts at $3K, which is way over my budget. My other option was to go with a Kickr Snap.
Hello,
trying to make it work. But when I activate (and even relaunch) the mod no bike get spawned. It seems that no power is detected. So my question is... Does someone knows if it works with a "Concept 2" bikeERG. I'm connecting via ANT+ (works great with zwift).
I tried to edit my ant+ deviceID in settings (replacing 0 with the one given by my bike menu) but still no luck. Reinstalled the whole GTA 5 to be sure to have a fresh install. Still not working.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
@g-coded you are right, most of the smart indoor bikes are too expensive. I only know one that is not that expensive and supports all the standards, but their distribution network is very limited, the Zycle Zbike (former Bkool smart bike), Anyways I find having a bike and a trainer a more versatile option
@rickstrada From what I've seen on the internet the Concept 2 bikeERG should be broadcasting ANT+ FEC profile, so it should work. Is the ANT indicator in the menu showing a green light? if not, your ANT dongle can be "taken" by another application on the PC. You can also ask in the Facebook group and post a screenshot of the debug windows (F11) and the ANT log file located in the GTA V directory (if you launch the game as an administrator)
@g-coded after @rickstrada message, now I know of 2 bikes, the Concept2 bikeERG should work too and is on the affordable side.
thanks @Makinolo. Found how to. I had to go to concept 2 link menu and press on "send power" in ANT Menu. Because pressing FE-C was not enough!
@Makinolo thanks for taking the time to help out here. I think I might just go with an Echelon, as I won't be using this solely for GTA. I had actually set up a "gaming cycle" and mapped the input from the magnetic switch to 'pedal'. It also has a swiveling handlebar, but there isn't a 1:1 feedback.
The limitation of this is matching the speed(and low magnetic resistance), the game provides 'resistance' by requiring you to pedal more. I've also used this to 'frame advance' on bike riding videos(limited success), so I am used to less functionality and creating workarounds.
If I get something within my budget to work with Zwift/Peloton, I think I'd be fine with a cadence sensor for controlling speed in GTA.
Would this work on Stationary Bikes?
@omerta0414 if they broadcast ANT+ speed or power or Bluetooth speed or power, then yes.
'You can use some indoor running devices too and have a jog around Los Santos.' Can anybody elaborate? I assume most people already have most of the gear before they find out about this mod, I would love to jog around Los Santos but not if it's gonna cost me a few hundred dollars
@ollyolly you need any treadmill and a ANT+ footpod sensor or a BLE running speed sensor. There are a few in the market and they are not very expensive. The Zwift pod for example is $40. If you have a modern running Garmin watch, that may work as well
@Makinolo Fantastic mod. I would only like to walk through LS. Can this be done without a treadmill? If so, can you recommend a device as im not familiar with this technology. You mention the zwift pod but unclear if it can be used alone or must be used with treadmill. I dont care about any metrics, purely to walk as exercise
@JohnFromGWN I'm not sure if a foot pod will work properly if you walk in place without a treadmill. They use accelerometers to calculate the length of your stride and thus the distance and speed you are running or walking. Without an actual stride (walking in place) they probably won't detect speed. For walking anyway, you don't need a fully featured treadmill, a used walking treadmill is probably only a hundred bucks or less.
@Makinolo im so sorry, i meant a stationary bike, not walking in place. Is there a device that can be used on an ordinary bike so that simple spinning with the device can act as a controller, i would use autodrive so essentially it would be just to start and stop.
@JohnFromGWN for that use case I would recommend a heart rate strap and a software on your phone that converts the HR into virtual power like HR2VP
@Makinolo thanks once more. Would you be able to provide a brand and model that is tested to be compatible with your mod. I will only be using this as a controller so want to ensure it will work with GTA5
