If, like me, you find the original damage decals for vehicles too obvious / garish then you might appreciate this...
Replacements for 'fxdecal_bangs' and 'fxdecal_scrapes'.
I make no claim to realism, but certainly less game-like.
INSTALLATION: place the provided files (using OpenIV) into:
mods/update/update.rpf/x64/textures/fxdecal.ytd
* Changelog 01/06/2022 *
New files, aimed at meshing better with vanilla game effects but also gother graphics modifications (most notably up to date NVE - June 2022 as used in screen shots). Even more subtle !
* Changelog 23/01/2023 *
Completely revised files, still aiming for an 'enhanced' feel, not necessarily 'realistic'
In this version scratches are larger, and bumps to vehicle panels result in flaking paint. Due to what are probable game engine limitations, this looks a bit 'off' on some surfaces / colours, but is still a vast improvment on previous releases.
* Changelog 09/02/2023 *
Internal texture dimensions rectified. New bump/bang textures to mesh better with more vehicles. Still subtle !
Replacements for 'fxdecal_bangs' and 'fxdecal_scrapes'.

So even after your updates. The game still just loops on the loading screen with these installed. The only textures to cause that as well.
@NAUTY might be your end
I like the previous bangs but the current scrapes. Because bangs most often end up on the front and rear bumpers, which are plastic.
Yes
Many people have reported continuous loading problem yet you didn't respond
@skipper00123 a texture mod won't be responsible for infinite loading screens, it could be other mods installed
@383rd Order no it's not. It's this one.. tested with and without..
@skipper00123 try adding a gameconfig in your mods folder, maybe it will solve that issue
@383rd Order already did since I'm using lots of car mods and graphics mods too
infinate loading screen happening to me too
works fine for me, no infinite loading screen
Can confirm, works just fine and does the job. Those who cant get it to work need to post more info, 'cos there is no immediately apparent reason that it would cause an infinite loading screen on its own.
Gave me a infinite loading screen
I too am receiving an infinite loading screen upon installation.
Removed the textures and the game worked fine, but now I'm stuck with zero car damage textures :/
After a bit of troubleshooting, I've concluded the issue is with the fxdecal_bangs texture, as the fxdecal_scrapes appears to work fine.
I don't understand enough to alter the properties etc so I'm playing without the fxdecal_bangs texture for the time being.
@alexmarkou if you need the bang files i backed up my game so i can send you them if you'd like if you still have none
@jeveline could I get it please, I can't clean up my game it's too messy
this breaks my game. I do as the description says but when i replace the files and start the game i get to an infinite loading screen and can't play anymore.
This mod made my game loop on the starting screen. Here's how to fix it (assuming you have a mods folder in OpenIV):
1. with OpenIV go into Edit Mode and find the following path (OUTSIDE of the mods folder):
update -> update.rpf -> x64 -> textures
2. Open fxdecal.ytd, find the textures needed, select them one by one, right click, choose "Export" and export them anywhere you can find them later (I sent them to the desktop).
There are the textures you'll need:
*fxdecal_bangs
*fxdecal_bangs_n
*fxdecal_scrapes
*fxdecal_scrapes_n
3. Now that you have all the original textures in your desktop, go back to the GTA V folder in OpenIV and find the same path you were just on, but this time INSIDE of the mods folder (mods -> update -> update.rpf -> x64 -> textures)
4. Open fxdecal.ytd (make sure you're still in Edit Mode), now simply drag and drop the original textures you exported into OpenIV and save.
This should fix it.
